Post 2: The Watchman on the Wall: When Silence Is Fatal

God Holds Us Accountable When We See the Danger and Do Nothing

In the midst of the growing number of unreached people, one truth keeps rising to the surface—we are the watchmen on the wall.

God said through Ezekiel:

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life... I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.”
—Ezekiel 33:6 (NIV)

This passage wasn’t just for ancient prophets—it’s for us today.

We See the Danger

We know the truth. We know about sin, salvation, heaven, and hell. We know Jesus is the only way. We also know that more than 35,000 people die each day without ever hearing His name. That’s the sword. That’s the danger.

Yet how often do we stay silent?

We are not innocent bystanders. When we see and know, we are accountable. God has placed us on the wall to warnpray, and intercede—not to stay comfortable.

Silence Is Not Safe

Silence may feel safe, but spiritually, it’s fatal. Fatal for the souls who never hear the Gospel. And spiritually dangerous for us, because disobedience has consequences.

To be silent in the face of lostness is to ignore God’s call. To delay speaking is to gamble with eternity—not just theirs, but our own witness before the Lord.

When Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), He was speaking to all of us.

The Modern Watchman

Being a watchman today doesn’t mean shouting from a city wall. It means being spiritually alert. It means praying for the lost, sharing the Gospel when we have the chance, and never forgetting what’s at stake.

Every post you share, every prayer you pray, every soul you reach—it matters.

We are God’s trumpet in a world that desperately needs a warning.

Your Role on the Wall

You may not be a preacher. You may never board a plane to a distant land. But if you know Jesus, you know enough to care.

Start with prayer.
Speak when God opens a door.
Give when you can.
Support those who go.
But never—never—stay silent.

“If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way... his blood I will require at your hand.”
—Ezekiel 33:8 (NKJV)

Let that truth not condemn you, but compel you.

A Prayer for Watchmen

Lord, forgive my silence. Forgive my apathy. Open my eyes to see what You see. Make me a faithful watchman—one who prays, who speaks, who warns. Use me to reach even one person who has never heard. Let my voice be a trumpet of truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
